Broken Hill Siesta

After many days of one night stops it has been a delight to have a three night stop in Broken Hill.

Our cottage is about the same size as our house with a Spa which we have all enjoyed immensely and an outdoor swimming pool which is a great relief as the temperature has returned to the forties.

Highlights:
Day One we drove to the famous town of Silverton where Mad Max 2 was made and many other films.
On the way we stopped at the Daydream Mine and did an above ground and below ground tour in a mine that is still potentially viable and has not been spruced up for the public. We had hard hats and miners lights and had to be careful not to make a wrong turn and had to crouch as we walked through many of the walkways on the trip continually banging our hard hats in the rocky roof. Great raw Mine experience. We finally spotted camels which was great excitement as we all jumped from the car to take photos.

Day 2 we went to the Broken Hill Geo museum and saw many rock and Mineral artefacts. The boys enjoyed viewing rocks through the computerised microscope. Once out of rocks they viewed their fingers hands and Daniel was very interested on viewing the Pixels in his Nintendo DS. See photo of 42 kg Pure Silver tree.
We then visited the Pro Hart Art Gallery as Pro Hart was local to this area. It was great to see his art and his painted Rolls Royce.

Later in the day, Kate and I went Window Shopping. Ever taken your wife Window shopping? Dreaming
Cars got a bit more to carry home.

Sadly heading off to Hay tomorrow. Approx 600 kms. NSW to Mildura in Vic to Hay into NSW

Got to go now, Kate's cooking a roast. How lucky are we?
