Our Return Home

Our Arrival into Hay was 43 degrees and we knew the next day was going to be a hot one . However we did not know we would be driving into Sydney's Hottest Day ever.

I tried to top up the car with Gas but the pump did not seem to be working so I left it at 3/4 full.

We set the alarm for 5.30am and hit the road by 6.30am. By 9am the temp was in the 30 degree mark.

We stopped in a town called Wentworth for Morning tea and the temp was scorching got.

At Wagga we stopped for Gas but again the pump would not work . The attendant said the tanks were too hot which I dis-believed. We had just under half a tank and pressed on for Gundagai.

At 11.30am we arrived at Gundagai with barely any gas left. The temp was very hot now and once again I could not fill the tanks. I then learnt the Hot tanks was not a myth.

We went and had some lunch and the returned send still no luck. We then spent 40 minutes throwing cold water on the tanks till finally we were able to fill the car with Gas.

Thankfully we were then able to proceed home arriving about 4.30am.

It was a great sense of achievement to have ended our journey safely although we experienced the tail end of Sydney's hottest ever day.

All up it we a great holiday.

The End.
